Senior Systems Engineer – Engineering – Biomedical Engineer - Product Engineer – Medical Device – New Product Development

Responsibilities

As a Senior Engineer in the Systems Engineering group, you will be a key problem solver and a potential core team leader responsible for planning and leading cross-functional product development projects from concept to manufacturing. You will use expert technical skills to conceive, plan and lead R&D product development activities to achieve project goals. You will leverage understanding of advanced engineering principles, advanced engineering methods, data and judgment to influence the course of product development activities.

Other responsibilities include:

  • Applying technical expertise to lead efforts in test method development, implementation and validation for medical devices/systems

  • Assessing design feasibility and testing product functionality and/or confirming product capabilities

  • Participating in new product design and designing improvements to existing products

  • Participating in the evaluation and assessment of competitive products, processes and/or new trends

  • Engaging with the OEM’s to provide technical oversight and guidance on the evolution of the design

  • Designing experiments using DOE methodology and analyzing the test results using statistical tools

  • Interpreting the results correctly and providing feedback effectively for design improvement

Qualifications

As a Senior Engineer in the Systems Engineering group, you must demonstrate ability to effectively and clearly communicate concepts, ideas and knowledge to other individuals and teams. Qualified candidates have strong project management, prioritization and multi-tasking skills in order to work within tight deadlines. You must have a track record of career advancement and experience with requirements development from user needs, design transfer functions and risk management.

Other qualifications of this engineering role include:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, required

  • Advanced degree (Masters / PhD), strongly preferred

  • 8 years minimum relevant experience as a product development engineer

  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills, as well as a good background in product development process

  • Instrument automation or scientific instrumentation, required

  • Experience with ISO requirements and GMP guidelines, FDA regulations, design control and manufacturing scale-up processes

  • Medical device experience, preferred

  • Design for Six Sigma (DFSS) experience, a plus

  • Six Sigma certification, desired
