Software Engineer II (R&D)

Responsibilities

As the Software Engineer you will participate in the software development for instrument automation and medical device applications for serological and molecular based diagnostic assays and ancillary products. Your responsibilities span the software development life-cycle, including requirements definition, design, construction, test and maintenance.

Responsibilities include:

  • Conduct feasibility of proposed designs to determine their ability to function as intended.

  • Develop and maintain detailed documentation for both internal and external customers.

  • Operate within defined processes and procedures to identify necessary activities and determine appropriate actions.

  • Collaborate across organizational functions to achieve company and projects objectives, and continually improve product performance and capabilities

  • Demonstrable ability developing complex software products through all phases of the software development life-cycle, employing various models and methods.

  • Collaborates with functional peers and other Research and Development staff to identify solutions for, and resolve issues with, product software.

  • Provide software product technical support to both internal and external customers.

Qualifications

As the Software Engineer with a background in medical device or other regulated industry software development, you will need excellent oral and written communications; ability to multi-task in a fast paced results oriented environment; and strong organizational skills and attention to details are required. Must have the ability to operate independently and exercise good judgement. Must have excellent analysis, troubleshooting and debugging skills.

Other requirements of the Software Engineer role include:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related engineering field.

  • 2+ years of software experience preferred in the medical device space, specifically with medical application and instrumentation automation software solutions.

  • Proficiency with C,C#, C++, VB.NET, ASP.NET, XML, JSON, javascript, Ajax, .NET frameworks, Windows Presentation Foundation (WPF), Microsoft Workflow Foundation (WF), Windows Communication Foundation (WCF), and MVP Frameworks.

  • Proficiency with Windows Operating Systems, Microsoft SQL Server, Web Services, multi-threading, and LINQ.

  • Experience developing applications using IIS, Apache server, TCP/IP and serial communications.

  • Knowledgeable in software configuration, build, and release management.

  • Experience with integrated development environments and software development applications.

  • Experience with Visual Studio and Team Foundation Server preferred

  • Experience with developing prototype platforms and realizing them as commercial products.

  • Experience with UNIX family operating systems a plus.

  • Experience with MinGW and Qt a plus.
