We are currently seeking a RBC Processing Technologist to join our Red Blood Cell Processing team. In this role you will process red blood cells, formulate red blood cell products into a diluted (bulk) state, and perform in-process testing in an aseptic production environment.
This position is 2nd shift with the following schedule:
Monday: 12pm – 10:30pm & Tues – Thus: 1:30pm – 12am

RBC Processing Technologist - Red Blood Cell Processing Technologist – Lab Technologist – Medical
As a RBC Processing Technologist, you will perform a variety of activities in the Red Blood Cell Processing Department. Process red blood cells, formulate red blood cell products into a diluted (bulk) state, and per in-process testing in an aseptic production environment. The incumbent will also perform production tasks in a cleanroom environment in compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices and Good Documentation Practices.
Specific duties as a RBC Processing Technologist will include:
Performing blood processing operations according to corporate policies, operating procedures, specifications, and verbal work instructions
Ensuring that blood products are transported, processed and stored in a manner that prevents contamination
Following appropriate control measures to prevent mixing of dissimilar production components in compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices
Performing in-process testing and visual inspections of product for defects
Creating legible written processing records that initiate product Batch Records and comply with all procedures and Good Documentation Practices
Following applicable laboratory & OSHA regulations with respect to hazards and blood-borne pathogens
Maintaining a neat, clean and orderly work environment
Independently performing equipment setup, operation, re-supply, documentation, cleaning, minor adjustments and minor maintenance tasks to meet standards for safety, quality, reliability, and efficiency
Applying FDA regulations and ISO standards to department operations and understanding consequences of non-conformance
Move, store and inventory production supplies and materials according to department specifications
Complete all training and qualification requirements and actively participating in ongoing training as well as in the training of new employees
Assist and communicate with co-workers to ensure that all safety, quality and efficiency objectives are achieved
Demonstrate supportive behaviors toward co-workers and cooperate as a member of the team
Demonstrate behaviors supportive of personal and professional growth of self and co-workers
May support and perform review of Manufacturing DHRs for RBC Processing, Solid Phase, VLP, Serum Bulk Manufacturing, and cleaning and maintenance of records as needed
Perform other duties as assigned by RBC Processing Management team
RBC Processing Technician - Red Blood Cell Processing Technician – Lab Technician – Medical
As a RBC Processing Technician, you must be highly motivated, and have a strong work ethic. You must also be detail-oriented and organized, with excellent time-management and multitasking skills. The incumbent must have excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills, along with the ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees. Prior experience working in an aseptic environment is preferred.
Specific qualifications for the RBC Processing Technician position include:
Bachelor's degree (BS/BA from a four-year college or university)
1 - 3 years of current experience in Blood Banking/Transfusion Medicine or related industry preferred
Must be able to accommodate production requirements that may require 50+ hour workweeks, including extended day hours and weekends
Experience working in an aseptic environment, preferred
Ability to complete courses and/or assessments related to aseptic technique and gowning and then to work while aseptically gowned in a clean room environment, maintaining personnel environmental monitoring results within specifications
Ability to work irregular hours and days as necessary in order to meet production schedules
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference and volume
