We are looking to hire an organized, detail-oriented Laboratory Assistant / Phlebotomist to join our Reagent Red Cell Testing and Processing team. This position is responsible for drawing blood for tests, transfusions, and research. Laboratory Assistant / Phlebotomist (Medical/Healthcare)
Responsibilities
As a Laboratory Assistant / Phlebotomist, you will be responsible for supporting and assisting the Red Cell Testing and Processing Departments.
Additional responsibilities of the Laboratory Assistant include:
Performing log-in of blood products upon receipt from outside facilities
Performing log-in of blood products upon receipt from outside facilities
Organizing and reconciling blood products in refrigerator for optimal use
Performing phlebotomy on internal employee donors
Preparing the weekly phlebotomy schedule, including scheduling and notifying donors, as well as replacing donors who may not be able to donate as scheduled
Distributing collected blood samples to the designated laboratories
Assisting with maintenance of department equipment including Cobe equipment, centrifuges, refrigerators, trolleys, and carts, according to department specifications
Identifying and troubleshooting incorrect performance of department equipment
Preparing solutions for Red Cell Laboratory
Organizing and maintaining anti-sera inventory
Ordering and maintaining department supplies
Reading thermometers and recording charts and gauges as specified by department procedures
Creating legible written records within procedure/work-instruction-defined time frames
Maintaining a neat, clean, and orderly work environment

Qualifications
To be successful in this Laboratory Assistant / Phlebotomist role, you must have exceptional organizational skills and a keen eye for detail. We are looking for someone who receives direction well and can work independently.
Additional requirements of the Laboratory Assistant role include:
High school diploma or equivalent
Minimum of 2 years of phlebotomy experience
Certified in Phlebotomy, preferred
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Proficient with Microsoft Excel, Word, Access, and Outlook
