Immucor is seeking a Development Scientist for an entry level position in our Research & Development group. The Development Scientist performs a variety of tasks associated with the development of new products and manufacturing processes, the investigation into and implementation of product and process changes, and the transfer of new products and processes to the manufacturing departments. Entry Level Research & Development Scientist (Laboratory)

Responsibilities

As a Development Scientist, you will conduct the feasibility, optimization, verification, and validation experiments in support of assay development in the area of in-vitro diagnostics of biological targets. Toachieve this, you will use established protocols and apply a technical and scientific understanding to complete projects in a timely manner.

Additional responsibilities:

  • Conducts a wide variety of controlled laboratory experiments/tasks in accordance with defined protocols under guidance from senior members of the team.

  • Performs activities such as genomic DNA extraction, polymerase chain reaction, BeadChip assays, and other standard molecular biology techniques.

  • Performs testing of clinical research and quality control samples.

  • Writing protocols and technical reports under supervision

  • Organizes test results, and performs data analyses. Documents data in the notebook.

  • Meets established project plans and agreed upon timelines.

  • Understaning and ability to operate under design control requirements.

  • Collaborating with members of other departments to meet project objectives and deliverables

  • Maintains a good work environment in the laboratory.

  • Follows regulatory requirements in laboratory safety, bloodborne pathogen control, and instrument calibration.

Entry Level Research & Development Scientist (Laboratory)

Qualifications

We are seeking candidates with a high level of attention to detail, an understanding of the importance of design control, and strong written and verbal communication skills.

Additional requirements:

  • Fifth year college or university program certificate with two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • ASCP certified Medical Technologist, preferred

  • Understanding and demonstrated ability to operate under design control

  • Experience in developing IVD assay based on PCR, required

  • Experience in transfusion medicine or working with biological materials, preferred but not required

  • Knowledge and practice of GMP and GLP highly desirable

  • Adequate vision to read and interpret test tube reactions
