Immucor is seeking an experienced Bioinformatics Scientist to join our Mountain View, CA team. Bioinformatics Scientist (R&D / Health Care / Medical Device)


As our Bioinformatics Scientist, you will be responsible for developing algorithms to analyze high throughput sequencing data.

Your specific areas of accountability in this role will include, but are not limited to:

  • Developing quality metrics and evaluating bioinformatics algorithms and models based on large datasets

  • Develop software modules for mapping sequencing reads to reference sequences, constructing consensus and detecting variants

  • Develop modules to further interpret the results for clinical applications

  • Implementing data analysis components in OOP languages

  • Improving existing analysis pipelines and updating databases for linkage disequilibrium and reference sequences

  • Collaborating with internal/external researchers to validate the HLA typing software

  • Define quality metrics and develop test cases to reevaluate the performance of software

  • Design and collect data for clinical study and perform validation based on large scale datasets

  • Verify software features, output and accuracy against the requirements

  • Perform validation with large dataset or study/trials

  • Develop quality metrics, including the depth of coverage of the target region

  • Calculate quality metrics based on the analysis output and evaluate the accuracy of genotype calling algorithms and models

  • Present results from validation and collaboration studies at conferences and trade shows

Bioinformatics Scientist (R&D / Health Care / Medical Device)


We are looking for a Bioinformatics Scientist who has outstanding analytical and problem-solving skills, as well as a proven track record of overcoming challenges within a fast-paced commercial production environment. It is vital that you display superior organizational and prioritization abilities, as well as excellent verbal, written communication and interpersonal skills.

Specific qualifications for this role include :

  • Bachelor’s degree in Bioinformatics or other related field

  • 2+ years’ experience working in Bioinformatics capacity in related industry

  • Experience with interpretation of human genome sequences for personal genetic traits and disease association

  • Experience with integrative data analysis tools, data visualization methods and statistical analysis methods

  • Ability to present scientific and technical data to both internal and external scientific colleagues

  • Intermediate to advanced experience level experience required:

Operating Systems: Linux and Windows

Office Software: Word, Excel and PowerPoint
